The Delhi Capitals are all set for their last dance in the Indian Premier League 2023. While the 2020 finalists are already out of contention for the playoffs, they will look to play for pride in the match. The Capitals will wear a special jersey in their last league encounter against the Chennai Super Kings.
On Twitter, DC made the announcement regarding the new threads. On Saturday (May 20), David Warner and his teammates will wear Rainbow Jerseys at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The new jersey will be light blue with a Rainbow patch on the bottom. After RCB, LSG, and GT, DC became the fourth team in IPL 2023 to wear special-purpose jerseys.
The Rainbow signifies the LGBT community. While DC has yet to make an official declaration regarding the purpose of its unique rainbow kits, many think that it is to raise awareness for the LGBT cause. The team has been donning the special hersey for the past three seasons.
Delhi has been unbeaten in all of its games in the Rainbow Jersey. If they continue their winning run, they will hamper CSK's chances of making it to the playoffs. The Men in Yellow will then have to rely on other teams' performances to make it to the next stage.
In the meantime, DC are out of IPL Playoff contention, but Warner and Co will try to ruin the party against CSK, just like they did against PBKS. The team captained by MS Dhoni has to win to secure a top-two playoff spot.
CSK will not be eliminated from the playoffs if they lose, but a few outcomes must go their way. If CSK does not beat DC, RCB and MI must lose their last games. Warner and company are on a run, having won five of their past eight games.
