Yash Dayal has been purchased by Gujarat for a massive 3.2 crores in the ITL mega auction. The 24-year old has turned out to be their trump card in recent times. Only 40 games old in domestic cricket, Dayal was a good option in the latest edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Uttar Pradesh. After performing in the match against Hyderabad, Dayal was good in the pre-quarterfinal of the tournament.
In the match against Madhya Pradesh, he was clinical in the first innings of the game. He was able to score runs and also take wickets to deliver an all-round performance. He was able to take three wickets in the match and conceded just 35 runs in his spells of 10 overs.
Dayal did not get wickets to begin with but was good to build pressure on a greenish wicket. He got an edge from one of the openers early on but did not the wicket as the ball went over the slip fielder. He could have had another wicket, but he looked puzzled and did not appeal for an LBW.
His major impact came in the death, between overs 41 and 44. The batters were looking to attack at this point, and Dayal had the advantage. He never allowed his oppositions to attack and ended up taking three wickets. His wickets included that of in form Venkatesh Iyer and captain Aditya Srivastava.
In his spell, only 24 deliveries were taken on for runs including 20 singles. This hurt MP more than any other player's performance in the match. UP, however, was unable to chase down the target after the openers were dismissed early on.
