India and England locked horns in the third of the three-match ODI series. Both teams came to the ground with a series score line of 1-1. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first after winning the toss at Old Trafford. Indian bowlers gave some early blows to the hosts.

England were bundled for a total of 259 runs in 45.5 overs. The visitors went on to chase this target in the 43rd over only and clinched the series with a final score line of 2-1. It is India’s first ODI series win in England after a wait of 8 years since the last they won in 2014.

Batting first, England was on the backfoot after the early attacks from Mohammed Siraj in the first over of his spell. He scalped two important wickets of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. England lost their first four wickets on the score of 74 runs.

Later on, Jason Roy and skipper Jos Buttler played two important individual knocks of 41 runs and 60 runs respectively. Apart from this two small but crucial knocks from 34 and 32 runs from Moeen Ali and Craig Overton helped England to reach the total of 259 runs in 45.5 overs.

Later on, while chasing the target, India was struggling on 72 runs after losing their four wickets and a failure of the top-order. But wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya made a magnificent partnership of 143 runs for the fifth wicket before Pandya got succumbed to Carse. He played an impressive knock of 71 runs.

On the other hand, talented batter Rishabh Pant amused everyone with his amazing centurion knock. He scored 125 runs off 113 runs with 16 boundaries and two sixes. His inning and partnership alongside Pandya helped India to clinch a victory by five wickets in the must-win match of the series. Eventually, the Indian team won the series with a celebrated score line of 2-1.
