West Indies are known as one of the biggest cricketing power around the globe. During their initial days, West Indies showed their dominance in the 50-over format. Then, in the shortest format of the game, they managed to win the 20-20 World Cup two times already. However, ahead of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022, West Indies failed to qualify directly.
So, skipper Nicholas Pooran was looking to help his team in getting qualified for the “Super 12” stage by winning the qualifies. However, the Caribbeans suffered a shocking defeat in the first match only against Scotland. Even, the West Indies Cricket Board came up with an apology to their fans.

After losing the first match, skipper Pooran was under pressure. But, they managed to win the second match against Zimbabwe. But, on 21 October, West Indies took on Ireland in the 20-20 World Cup in Hobart. It was a must-win game for both teams. Speaking of the match, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and he choose to bat first. But, he failed again with the bat as Nicholas Pooran scored 13 runs off 11 balls. With that inning, Pooran scored only 25 runs in three matches in the ongoing World Cup, at an average of 8.33.
But, what went worse for him is that West Indies lost the match by nine wickets. Paul Stirling scored 66* runs off 48 balls. He and Tucker ensured Ireland’s victory over the Caribbeans. Thus, the Irish qualified for the second round of the World Cup in Australia. With the loss, they failed to qualify for the second round. Being a two-time champion of this competition, fans were not happy at all. They started to slam the team and skipper, Nicholas Pooran. As a leader and an individual batter, he completely failed to contribute to this ongoing tournament.
