India’s opening batsman Prithvi Shaw made history by joining the 200-run club in the limited-overs domestic competition. Opening the innings against Pondicherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the young batsman completed his maiden double-century. The 21-year-old, who is leading Mumbai in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, had scored 105 runs against Delhi on February 21.

Prithvi Shaw, who now has six hundreds in List A cricket, scored 150 for India A against New Zealand A before this knock. He became the eighth Indian batsman to score a double-ton in List A cricket. The list is topped by Sachin Tendulkar, who was the first batsman to achieve the milestone. Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Karn Kaushal have also accomplished this feat.

Shaw, who is leading the team for the first time in his career, is the second cricketer from Mumbai to gain this feat. In 2019/20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Yashasvi Jaiswal had scripted history when he smashed 203 runs against Jharkhand. The Mumbaikar is still the youngest batsman to breach the 200-mark.

Prithvi Shaw’s 227* is the highest score in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Prithvi Shaw completed his fifty off just 27 balls. He entered in double figures before the conclusion of the 20th. The youngster’s 227* is now the highest-ever score in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Suryakumar Yadav also showcased his talent as he scored 133 off 58.

Prithvi Shaw has been dropped from both Test and T20I teams for the ongoing series against England. In 2020, Shaw traveled with the Indian Team to Australia. However, the youngster was out from playing XI after the first Test in Adelaide. He is eyeing a comeback in the ODI team for the upcoming series against England. Prithvi Shaw has scores of 105*, 34, and 227* in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The group stage matches are going to conclude on March 1.
