U Mumba are currently in the ninth position at the table in the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League. They have gathered 51 points in 21 games. However, Rinku Sharma became the captain of this side in the mid-season. He took the captaincy from Surinder Singh. In a recent interview, he opened up about his new responsibilities.
Rinku said: “I am feeling happy about captaining U Mumba at a young age and will try my best to lead the side well. No, I do not feel any pressure but have added responsibility. Before I would make advance tackles and get out at times but now have to be careful while making crucial tackles as my presence on the mat is important.”

During the interview, Rinku Sharma shared the idol from whom he has taken inspiration on playing this sport. He said: “My idol is Joginder Narwal and Kuldeep Sharma. I have heard of their names in the past and started playing the game. As of now Fazel Atrachali is my favorite and will look to perform in a similar manner.”
Rinku Sharma also added the impact of the Pro Kabaddi League on player’s life. “Pro Kabaddi has given a different dimension to many. Earlier the sport was only played in mud but now we get to play on the mat frequently. Also previously many used to play the sport for securing jobs but now many have become popular with good fame and money due to PKL,” Rinku added.
He also shared his future goals in this league. “The most tackle in a single match was recently broken by Shadlu from Patna Pirates and I will soon look to break that record along with winning the orange armband for the most tackle points,” Rinku Sharma concluded. U Mumba will be in action again on 10 December when they will take on Bengaluru Bulls in Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad.
