Probable Orange Cap and Purple Cap winner in Indian T20 League 2022

The Indian T20 League has a unique approach to celebrating the best performances. While most other leagues and tournaments have a single player of the tournament, ITL has two. The highest run-scorer of the season is awarded the Orange Cap and the highest wicket-taker is awarded the Purple Cap. There have been many winners of these two awards in the past. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Harshal Patel were the winners in the previous season.

Here are the predictions of the players that can win the two awards.

Orange Cap

KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been one of the more consistent players in the last two seasons. Playing for Punjab, he won the Orange Cap in 2020 by scoring 670 runs. Rahul was in staggering form in the last season as well and was the third-highest run-scorer in 2021. KL Rahul had 626 runs, 9 runs short of Gaikwad.

This season, he can once again win the orange cap. He has been picked by the Lucknow team in the draft of players and has been appointed as the team captain. He once again will have the responsibility to lead the team from the front.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has been another player who has been very consistent fin the league. He came close to winning the orange cap in 2020 but fell short by 50 runs. He looked in good touch in the 2021 season as well.  Dhawan is the second-highest run-scorer of all time in the tournament but has never got his hands on the orange cap.

This season can be a little different if he is able to maintain the same consistency throughout the season. He was not retained by Delhi and is available to buy in the mega auction. He is one of the ten marquee players available in the first set.

Purple Cap

Jasprit Bumrah

Playing in the ITL for Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah has become one of the league's most appreciated players. He was able to make his debut with the Indian team based on his performances in the ITL. And now, he has become India's one of the most valuable players. Despite so much success, Jasprit Bumrah has never won the purple cap.

He was very close in the 2020 season, but Kagiso Rabada had slightly better figures than him. Bumrah picked up 27 wickets, while Rabada had 30 wickets in that season. This season he has been retained by Mumbai and will have a huge responsibility to be their main bowler.

Trent Boult

Partnering with Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult has had great two seasons with Mumbai. He too was very close to winning the purple cap in 2020, but could not get his hands on it. Trent Boult has been very effective in the powerplays and he can repeat the same in 2022.

If he goes beyond Powerplays and picks more wickets in the death overs, Boult can surely win the purple cap. He had to be let go from the Mumbai camp but is available to buy in the mega auction. Many teams will look to have him on their side.
