BCCI president Sourav Ganguly praised former Indian captain Rahul Dravid for his role at the NCA. Ganguly applauded Dravid for looking after second-string players. Rahul Dravid is often attributed to Indian youngsters' jiffy success at the highest level of the gentlemen's game. After leading the Indian cricket team in their iconic playing careers, Ganguly and Dravid have come up with an ideal shift in Indian cricket by becoming the face of the top cricket board in India. While Ganguly is the chief of the Indian cricket board, Dravid looks after the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
Rahul Dravid has taken the responsibility to groom the younger generation with his coaching stints. Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Washington Sundar managed to depict the Indian national team at the highest level.
Siraj made his India debut when Mohammed Shami suffered a fractured and was out of the final three Tests. The pacer picked up 3/37 and 2/40 on his Test debut, followed by a five-wicket haul in the fourth match.
The WTC finals likely to take place at Southampton
There is no denying that the incredibly talented bench played a vital role in India's historic series win against Australia. In the absence of regular players due to injuries, captain Ajinkya Rahane and the rest of the team thumped above their weight to pull off a remarkable series win in the recent India tour of Australia. Despite the outrageous defeat in the first Test at Adelaide, the visitors defied all odds. They recorded a stunning comeback, winning the second Test at the MCG followed by a draw in Sydney and a historic win at Brisbane.
With the 3-1 win over England in the recently concluded Test series, the Indian cricket team has paved its way into the inaugural WTC final. Team India plays against New Zealand in Southampton on June 19. While there have been predictions about the change of venue from Lord's to Southampton, there has been no official declaration from the ICC.
