The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that Rahul Dravid will be India's head coach during the Sri Lanka tour. Rahul Dravid has earlier been the batting coach of India during their 2014 England tour. He also coached the India A and India U-19 sides. With this, the Indian cricket board has also declared that T Dilip and Paras Mhambrey will assist Dravid. They will be the assistant coaches for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Like Rahul Dravid, Mhambrey has also been in charge of the India A and Under 19 teams as their bowling coach.

T Dilip is currently the fielding coach of the Hyderabad Ranji team. Earlier, the former also had a stint at India A team. The 39-year-old's brilliant work with the youngsters was appreciated by former chief selector MSK Prasad. Thus, this could be an excellent opportunity for T Dilip, who will travel with a young group of players for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

All the six matches against Sri Lanka will be held at one venue

According to sources, Dilip's name was discussed before the Indian cricket board finalized him for the Sri Lanka tour. The squad announced by BCCI is now going to quarantine in Mumbai from June 14 onwards. The team is anticipated to leave for Sri Lanka on June 27 after mandatory 14-day isolation. After reaching the island nation, the Indian team will have to undergo a three-day soft quarantine.

Earlier, it was stated that there wouldn't be any practice games before the white-ball matches. However, now it is known that there will be intra-squad matches, and the BCCI is looking forward to its arrangements. All six games against Sri Lanka will be held at one Venue, R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The Indian cricket team will feature all white-ball specialists and gen-next players. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, etc., will be in the UK for the Tests matches. Considering Rahul Dravid has already worked with quite a few young players during his India A and India U-19 days, it will be an easier task for the veteran. The Indian cricket team will reach the Island nation on July 5. Three ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, and 19. It will then be followed by T20Is on July 22, 24, and 27.
