India’s women’s U-19 team created history by defeating England to win the inaugural edition of the Women’s U-19 20-20 World Cup. The team led by Shafali Verma completely outplayed Grace Scrivens’ girls in the final of the tournament to lift the coveted title in the very first edition of this prestigious tournament.
Just after the women’s team became the champions, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for the young girls. Meanwhile, the senior men’s team that was in action against New Zealand in the second of the three-match T20I series in Lucknow also sent a congratulatory message to the women’s U-19 team.
Subsequently, the head coach of the senior men’s team, Rahul Dravid also won the hearts of the Indian cricket fans with his gesture for the U-19 World Cup-winning skipper and currently star Indian batter Prithvi Shaw. Dravid handed over the mic to Shaw to congratulate the girls’ team for the historic achievement in the major international tournament.
