Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been credited for transforming the developmental culture of Indian cricket. The veteran has been responsible for providing the senior cricket team with talented cricketers over the years. Rahul Dravid, the National Cricket Academy chief, will coach the Indian cricket team on the tour of Sri Lanka.

In the absence of coach Ravi Shastri, Rahul has always been the favorite candidate to take charge of the squad. He has been coaching and mentoring the U-19 team and the A-side and is no stranger to the role. With this, the Indian cricket board has also declared that T Dilip and Paras Mhambrey will assist Dravid.

The series between India and Sri Lanka will commence with the first ODI on July 13

Sachin Tendulkar has talked about Rahul’s role as the coach of the side and what he brings to the table. The former stated that the players traveling to Sri Lanka have spent enough time with Rahul, so they know him well. Additionally, Sachin added that a coach is someone who should keep a healthy atmosphere in the team and the dressing room, and Rahul Dravid will surely do that.

The Indian cricket team will be led by senior batsman Shikhar Dhawan whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy. The Men in Blue will tour Sri Lanka for a limited-overs tour in July. Considering India’s regular players are currently in England for the WTC final and a five-match Test series, the BCCI named many youngsters for the 3-match ODI and T20I series. Youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Varun Chakravarthy, and Chetan Sakariya will get an opportunity to test their grit in international cricket.

All the matches will take place in Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The series will start with the first ODI on July 13. The Indian cricket team is going to leave for Sri Lanka on June 27 after mandatory 14-day isolation. After reaching the island nation, the Indian team will have to undergo a three-day soft quarantine.
