Rahul Tripathi, the opener of the Kolkata Knight Riders, was the key difference during the IPL 2020 match on Wednesday. The 10-run win over CSK gave the team two crucial points and they climbed to the third spot of the IPL table. The points gave Rahul Tripathi’s team the confidence to move forward in the tournament. For his 53-ball 81 knock replacing Sunil Narine, Tripathi got the man of the match.
Against the Delhi Capitals, Rahul Tripathi came to bat at number eight in Sharjah and played well. But, it was too much for him to do at the lower order. Sunil Narine was failing to bat in the top repeatedly and on the other hand, Rahul Tripathi was batting well at the top. Watching both of them, KKR decided to promote Tripathi at the top and got wonderful outcomes. He took the bat with positive energy, hit eight fours and three sixes and stayed until the 17th over.
KKR is special for Rahul Tripathi
To the delight of the CSK fans, on Wednesday as well, Shane Watson was back to business and smashed another half-century. His last brilliant knock was against the Kings XI Punjab, which led his side to win that match. On Wednesday, Watson gave CSK another brisk start along with Faf Du Plessis. However, KKR dismissed him in the 14th over and CSK lost the track. Sam Curran and MS Dhoni lost wickets at crucial points and Kedar Jadhav couldn’t strike well.
For Rahul Tripathi, coming to KKR was special. He has earlier played for the Rising Pune Supergiants and the Rajasthan Royals. According to him, he was ready for any role and was just waiting for things to come to him so that he could grab the chance and play accordingly.
“It is a dream come true for me. I was prepared for both the roles. Wherever you get the opportunity, you have to be prepared. I just thought the ball was coming on nicely so I just felt we should keep the runs coming. I have loved this journey. Coming to KKR is special,”.
Tripathi said in the post-match presentation.
