Rajat Patidar became the talk of the town after he played a brilliant knock in the Eliminator for Bangalore. The 28-year-old hit an outstanding century and became the first uncapped player to do so in the Indian T20 League playoffs. His ton helped Bangalore beat Lucknow and advance to the second qualifier.
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Patidar's family has a business of manufacturing irrigation pipes. His family wanted him to join the business, but he was least interested in doing so. His teammate, Ishwar Pandey, from Madhya Pradesh has spoken up about Bangalore's star batter from the last match. He revealed that Patidar has done what he did for Bangalore on many occasions for Madhya Pradesh.
"Rajat sankat-mochan hai hamare team ka
Patidar made his domestic debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2015. He also underwent knee surgery, but he came out of it stronger. Patidar's domestic teammates predicted his success after witnessing him destroy the likes of Ashoke Dinda and Mohammed Shami when playing against Bengal in a Ranji Trophy match.
"The way he was hitting Shami and Dinda, we saw a different class that day. He has that extra time. It was then that we knew this boy will do something for himself," Pandey added.
Patidar has seven first-class centuries to his record, as well as three List-A hundreds. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, he has produced four 50-plus scores in the four innings that he has batted in for Madhya Pradesh, including a century. The batter went unsold in the Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction but was called up by the Bangalore team ahead of the season due to Luvnith Sisodia's injury.
