The much-anticipated and first-ever historic franchise league for women’s cricket i.e., Women’s T20 League is set to commence later this week on Saturday, the 4th of march. Gujarat Women and Mumbai Women will lock horns in the tournament opener of the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League.

As most of the players participating in the league were in action during the recently-concluded Women’s 20-20 World Cup 2022. The eighth edition of the marquee tournament came with some star performers who might shine for their respective franchise teams in the upcoming Women’s T20 League. Apart from the batters, there are also a few bowlers who might pose a threat to the batters in the tournament.

Ashleigh Gardner

The star Australian bowling all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner stunned everyone with her impressive outings throughout the entire edition of the Women’s 20-20 World Cup 2023. On the back of her brilliant performances in the tournament, Gardner won the ‘player of the tournament award.

She scalped 10 wickets with the ball in the tournament and also scored 110 runs in six appearances in the tournament. The Sydney star could be a crucial factor in the death overs while leading Gujarat in the first edition of the Women’s T20 League.

Shabnim Ismail

The veteran Proteas pacer Shabnim Ismail is currently a key factor of the team. She also proved her worth for the national side in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2023. Ismail picked seven wickets in five appearances in the world cup including two decent performances in the semi-final and final against England and  Australia respectively.

Ismail will be playing for a UP-based franchise in the Women’s T20 League. Considering her current stunning form; it can be said that Ismail is going to be a very tough task for the batters in the tournament.

Megan Schutt

Another Star Aussie bowler Megan Schutt recently had a brilliant 20-20 World Cup to her name. The Adelaide pacer scalped wickets in all six appearances during the eighth edition of the Women’s 20-20 World Cup in South Africa. Schutt scalped a total of 10 wickets in six matches including a four-fer in the penultimate group fixture against Sri Lanka women.

She will be wearing the colors of one of the high-profile franchises in the Women’s Premier League, Bangalore. She will accompany her national teammate Alyssa Healy and Indian star Smriti Mandhana in the Bangalore lineup. Speaking of the 30-year-old sensational bowling form, she could be a big danger for the batters to survive in the death overs during the Women’s T20 league 2023.
