Ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan pacer Harris Rauf has praised star India batter Virat Kohli. He revealed his experience with Virat during India's World Cup campaign in 2015. Rauf said that Virat plays in nets as if he is playing in an actual game and keeps his focus high.

Rauf, who is currently leading the Pakistani pace attack, revealed that he was shocked by the determination and focus Kohli puts into a practice session. "When I was a net bowler for the Indian team and was bowling to Virat Kohli, I felt like he knew exactly where the ball was going to hit his bat. He was very focused, and that showed how sharp his concentration was,” Rauf said in ESPNcricinfo’s documentary, The Incredible Rise of Haris Rauf.

"Even during practice sessions in the nets, it felt like I was playing a match against him, despite being a net bowler. His remarkable control and intensity made me realise why he has such a reputation in the game", he further added. It's worth noting that Rauf has been one of the most important bowlers for the Pakistan cricket team in recent years. His performance has been up to par for Asian giants.

"Dale Steyn inspired me a lot,", Haris Rauf reveals his source of inspiration

The 29-year-old pacer further spoke about his inspiration for the game. Rauf revealed that former South African pacer Dale Steyn was his idol. He said, “I used to watch Dale Steyn, and I liked the way he used to show aggression on the field after picking up a wicket. He inspired me to be aggressive on the field. That’s why he is my idol."

It's worth noting that Rauf has been on the receiving end while playing against India. In last year's T20I World Cup, Kohli slammed two back-to-back sixes against him to seal the game for India. Rauf has constantly struggled while bowling against Kohli. He will be looking to change his fate while facing India on October 14 at the biggest stage.
