Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri share a great bond. As The former all-rounder was India's head coach during the batting maestro's captaincy stint, both know each other really well. Besides, Kohli has been vocal about Shastri's impact on his career.

Although he isn't a coach, the 59-year-old recently went on to share a piece of advise to Kohli after his knock against Punjab during Bangalore's first game. It is to be noted that the 33-year-old scored an unbeaten 41 in just 29 balls on Sunday. Shastri felt that Kohli is showing signs of improvement, and is getting back to the grove. Kohli hasn't been at his best for quite a while now and hasn't been able to consistently scored runs like he used to.

“Clutter You may get into a rut when you’re in bubbles, when you’re going through a pattern that cricket hasn’t seen in 40-50 years. There isn’t the clarity of idea that there used to be. Now that the captaincy is no longer a burden. He is now free to think for himself and not be concerned with anything else. We saw glimpses of it in the previous game, so it’s possible that clarity of thought may return," said Ravi Shastri on Star Sports.

He had even advised Kohli to start playing the sweep shot. After his knock against Punjab, Shastri stated that the batting legend was prepared to use his feet against the spinners. While speaking to ESPNcricinfo, he also mentioned the fact that the batter seldom plays that shot.

"The thing I liked most about Virat Kohli's knock against Punjab was his fluency. "He was prepared to use his feet against the spinners. Now he has to bring out the sweep. It's a very important shot. He doesn't play it much, but he should, with freedom," said Shastri.

However, Kohli was dismissed rather cheaply during Bangalore's second game against Kolkata. He scored 12 runs off seven balls. Yet, he did look good as he scored two eye-pleasing boundaries. Thus, it will be exciting to see how he fares in the remaining games of the Indian T20 league 2022.
