Star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been the talk of the town in recent times. He made a last-minute comeback for India's ODI team after Axar Patel's injury. However, his inclusion did not go well with some former players, including former India spinner Laxman Shivaramakrishnan.
Taking on social media Shivaramakrishnan slammed Ashwin for his poor bowling action and asked him to rectify the issues. However, after facing a lot of backlash on social media, Shivaramakrishnan revealed that Ashwin called him to discuss flaws in his bowling action. He also revealed that Ashwin didn't support trolls who slammed him for his comments.
"This picture has gone viral on SM. Enlarge the image, and you notice his non-bowling arm and upper body have opened up towards the offside. If you look at his lower body, it is closed. This leads to a lack of synchronization. Ash quickly needs to correct this to be more effective," Sivaramakrishnan wrote on Twitter, questioning Ashwin's bowling action.
"Do us proud", Shivaramakrishnan says after talking to Ashwin
After a few hours, Shivaramakrishnan revealed that Ashwin called him and asked for his tips. He also revealed his conversation with Ashwin and said, "Ravichandran Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action; he was as shocked by the venom of the trolls as I was. It was also clarified that the people involved are in no way connected to him. Good luck, @ashwinravi99. Do us proud."
It is worth noting that India will host the ODI World Cup for the first time on its own. The tournament will kick off on October 5 with a match between defending champions England and New Zealand. However, India's campaign will start against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The team will look to continue their dominance in the multinational tournaments and win them for the third time.
