The third Test match between India and England got over within two days after Joe Root and Co. crumbled in front of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. The discussion around the Motera pitch has dominated the proceedings after the completion of the third Test. Virat Kohli and the team defeated England in the third Test to take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing four-match series. India's first innings total of 145 runs was the highest score of the match. England was bundled out for 112 and 81 in both innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin has developed as one of India's greatest match-winners in the purest format of the game. The 34-year old was the most impactful bowler in the ongoing series against England. He has picked up 24 wickets in three matches so far. In the second Test match, he first started with the ball and then with the bat, scoring his fifth Test hundred. The all-rounder pushed the game beyond England's reach.

England is focused on setting things right for the fourth and final Test: Jack Leach

Since the completion of the pink-ball Test, many former English players have lashed out at the Ahmedabad pitch. However, amid the discussions over the nature of the pitch, England spinner Jack Leach stated that he would have liked the match to go longer than two days. Leach said that a Test match should last more than two days, but he also accepted that the hosts outplayed England on Ahmedabad wicket.

Leach, who has scalped 16 wickets in the series so far, reckoned that England is currently focusing on the fourth Test. India is currently leading the four-match Test series and will take on England in the fourth Test on March 4. It is worth mentioning that the final game has more than the series at stake. India will need to either win or draw the fourth and final Test of the series to confirm their spot in the WTC final against New Zealand. England is out of the WTC final contention after losing the third Test match against India.
