Delhi Capitals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has agreed to take a break from the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League. The 34-year-old stated that his family is currently putting up a fight against COVID-19, and he wants to support them. The off-spinner added that he might return if the situation in the country improves in the upcoming weeks. Delhi Capitals will probably look to rope in all-rounder Lalit Yadav or pacer Umesh Yadav as Ashwin's replacement for the forthcoming games. In the five matches played so far, R Ashwin has only one wicket under his belt at an economy of 7.73. In last year's IPL, the spinner picked up 13 wickets.

Talking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started on a positive note against Delhi Capitals. However, soon after, SRH lost its openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow in quick succession. Kane Williamson's outstanding half-century brought SRH back in the competition. Kane Williamson and debutant Jagadeesha Suchith helped the team level scores on the last ball of the match. However, Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan overtook the 8-run Super over target set by SRH batsmen Williamson and Warner. With this, the Delhi-based franchise registered its fourth victory in IPL 2021. Delhi Capitals will now head to Ahmedabad to face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday.

Ashwin has retained his position as India's frontline bowler in home Tests for several years now. R Ashwin has featured in 77 Tests as well as 111 ODIs and 46 T20 International games. He has 409 Test wickets and is one of the 16 bowlers in history to break the 400-mark.
