Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria believes that Ravindra Jadeja will be the standout player in the much-awaited ICC WTC final. In 10 matches in the WTC, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 469 runs. The all-rounder has also grabbed 28 wickets. Although he’s had his fair share of injuries in the recent past, Jadeja still remains a key member of the national cricket team across all three formats of the game. India and New Zealand are set to face each other in the summit clash of the WTC at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, from June 18-22. Ahead of the marquee event, several former cricketers and cricket experts of the game have come forward and made various predictions for the WTC final.
You just can't keep him out of the game: Danish Kaneria
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has talked about the forthcoming match and predicted the most valuable player. Many people might have thought it would be Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, or Rohit Sharma. However, the veteran felt otherwise. According to the former spinner, Ravindra Jadeja would be the one to watch out for against the Kiwis. Kaneria feels that one just cannot keep the Indian all-rounder out of the game and stated that he has to play. Ravindra Jadeja has played five Tests in England in the past. He has managed to pick up 15 wickets and scoring 276 runs. This also includes two half-centuries. Hence, it will be interesting to see if Ravindra Jadeja retains his form in the exhausting English conditions and helps team India win the WTC.
Overall, in 51 Tests since his debut in 2012, Ravindra Jadeja has scalped 220 wickets and scored 1954 runs. Combining all three game formats, the Gujarat all-rounder has picked up 447 wickets and amassed 4582 runs. The Indian selection committee has announced a 20-men squad for the WTC final and the five-match Test series against England. Virat Kohli and Co. have already reached the United Kingdom for the WTC final later this month. The Men in blue are expected to stay in England and Wales for an extended period post the summit clash. After the WTC final, India will then play against Joe Root-led England for five Tests in the English summer, from August-September.
