Former England captain Michael Vaughan explained why RCB is the right franchise for Glenn Maxwell. The Australian all-rounder's performance in the IPL has always been a topic of discussion. Despite all his abilities and big-hitting prowess, Glenn Maxwell has not been able to leave an impression in the Indian Premier League. His struggle with the bat was evident during 2020 when he ended up just scoring 108 runs in 13 games. He did not even have a single six in the entire season.

Ahead of IPL 2021, Maxwell was dropped by KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings. However, showing trust in his capabilities, the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise spent out a hefty sum for Maxwell in the IPL Auction. Their decision has already started to pay as he has scored 176 runs in three games.

Additionally, Glenn Maxwell was at his best with the bat in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai. Batting first, the Australian played smart cricket as he stabilized RCB's innings after the dismissal of Virat Kohli. The batsman smashed 78 runs off just 49 balls, including nine boundaries and three maximums. His exploits helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a massive score of 204 runs.

The Australian batsman started counter-attacking KKR's bowling unit and smashed boundaries all over the park to help his side settle down. Glenn Maxwell's innings set up the platform to post a massive total against the Eoin Morgan-led side. This was Maxwell's second successive fifty for RCB in the ongoing season. The 32-year-old batsman had faced a lot of criticism last year after scoring just 108 runs in 13 games. However, this season he appears to be in great form for RCB in IPL 2021.

Veteran English batsman Michael Vaughan clarified the reasons behind Glenn Maxwell's success for RCB. Michael Vaughan believes that the Australian would perform well at RCB. He further added that Maxwell had found the franchise suitable to him, just like Moeen Ali. Ali, after spending three underwhelming seasons at RCB, is presently making prolific returns at CSK. Vaughan also highlighted that Maxwell would not be able to garner the limelight at RCB as he got at other franchises. The English batsman concluded by saying that the 32-year-old Aussie all-rounder will fly under the shadow of Kohli and ABD at RCB.
