Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani skipper and one of the great white-ball spinners, had stunned everyone on Tuesday after he decided to break off his journey with the Galle Gladiators at the Lanka Premier League inaugural season.
Afridi announced that he would go back home to attend a personal emergency.
Fans were curious as Shahid Afridi did not mention the nature of the ‘personal emergency’.
However, the reason behind this sudden exit of the all-rounder has been exposed in the official Twitter account of the LPL.
The Lanka Premier League has revealed that Afridi has gone back to Pakistan to attend to his daughter. Afridi’s daughter is currently in the hospital. The LPL management has further prayed for the speedy recovery of the spinner’s daughter.
Shahid Afridi’s LPL journey so far has been an eventful one
If Shahid Afridi returns to join the Galle Gladiators, he will only have to go through three days of quarantine after the Covid-PCR test.
Earlier this year, Afridi was admitted to the hospital after getting diagnosed with the virus. In recent tests conducted on him, it is revealed that he has antibodies in his system.
In the meantime, the Galle Gladiators are yet to win a single game in their campaign of LPL 2020. In their last game, Shahid Afridi was engaged in a tense face-off with the bowler of Kandy Tuskers, Naveen-Ul-Haq, after his quarrel with Mohammad Amir.
