Shafali Verma

Young all-rounder Shafali Verma left everyone stunned with her sensational last-over heroics for India Women against Bangladesh Women in the second of the three-match T20I series. The match played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur saw great heroics from the 19-year-old. India were surprisingly restricted to a score of only 95 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the entire 20 overs in the first innings.

Later, while chasing the target, Bangladesh needed 10 runs off the last over, which was to be bowled by Shafali Verma. But in an utter shock to everyone, Shafali conceded only one run in the last over and scalped three wickets, apart from a run-out. India got a total of 4 wickets in this over at the cost of only one run.

The fans were also ecstatic about this sensational bowling performance by Verma at the time when India required it most during the second T20I against the hosts. Indian cricket fans took to Twitter and praised Verma for her heroics. Some of the fans reckoned that she can play a role for Indian women similar to that the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj used to do for men’s team.

Here's how fans reacted:

Speaking of the action of the match, India women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first. The Indian girls struggled a lot against Bangladesh’s bowling attack. Shafali Verma was the highest scorer in the innings with her 19-run knock off 14 balls with four boundaries. Apart from her, Amanjot Kaur and Smriti Mandhana scored 14 and 13 runs to help India somehow reach a total of 95 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

While defending the target, the Indian team was looking like they were about to lose the match but Shafali’s last over completely changed and shifted the momentum in India’s favour. Eventually, India won the match by a very close margin of 8 runs to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.
