According to the reports, the Indian T20 League franchise owners are unhappy with Cricket Australia (CA) over their decision of not allowing Australian players to play in the Indian T20 League from the start. Even though CA has granted the NOC to the players, they will only be available after April 6. The centrally contracted players are due to tour Pakistan for the multi-format series. The series will start with a three-match Test from March 4 and will end with a solitary T20I on April 5. The team will also play three ODIs.

The domestic players, whose team qualifies for the Sheffield Shield Final, will be available only after April 4. The match will start on March 31. Notably, the players such as Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and David Warner have been rested for the limited-overs leg. However, they are still not allowed to play in the league.

Glenn Maxwell, who is missing the tour due to his marriage, also won't feature in the tournament before April 6. The Indian T20 League is expected to start on March 26 which means that the Australian players could miss a few initial games of their teams.

These developments have reportedly miffed the ITL franchises, who have bought the players after spending a significant amount of money. Players such as Cummins, Hazlewood, and Warner have been contracted by teams such as Kolkata, Bangalore, and Delhi  respectively during the mega auction this month. Maxwell was already retained by Bangalore last November. Other players who are participating in the Pakistan tour and are also part of the Indian T20 League are Mitchell Marsh, Sean Abbott, Jason Behrendorff, Marcus Stoinis, and Nathan Ellis.
