Suryakumar Yadav is likely to be included in India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand starting on Thursday (November 25) in Kanpur. The right-hand batter was in good form in the preceding three-match T20I series. He scored 62 runs in the first T20I and was seen in fluent touch.
Yadav is yet to make his debut in the Test format but has already managed to have an impact in the white-ball formats. In his debut T20I innings against England, the right-hand batter announced his arrival in style by dispatching Jofra Archer for a six in the fine leg region. Later, he got to make his debut in the ODI format against Sri Lanka and looked composed in that as well. Yadav was also part of the team during the Test series against England.
“Suryakumar will be making a comeback to the Test team. He will join India’s Test team in Kanpur from Kolkata,” a source told Mid-Day on Monday.
Yadav has played 77 first-class matches for Mumbai. He has scored 5356 runs and has 14 hundreds and 26 fifties to his name.
The Kane Williamson-led team will be eager to do well in India and try to win the Test series for the first time in this part of the world. Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, and Neil Wagner will be part of the series thus expect a lot more fight from the Kiwis.
