Cheteshwar Pujara, playing for Sussex in the County Cricket Championship, scored his third consecutive century of the season on Friday against Durham. On day two, Pujara's century put Sussex in a strong position in the match.

Pujara's century helped Sussex post 362/5 on day 2 in reply to Durham's 223. The seasoned cricketer remained not out on 128 runs in 198 balls, with Mohammed Rizwan on the other end at five in 13 balls. The Indian batter's first hundred came against Derbyshire, which he then converted into a double hundred. He scored 201 and helped his secure a draw after being asked to follow on. He next scored a hundred (109) against Worcestershire in their first innings. However, Sussex lost the match by an innings and 34 runs.

Meanwhile, fans on Twitter were thrilled to see Pujara return to form. A fan suggested that his performance in the County Cricket Championship will make it difficult for the selectors to leave him out of the Indian team's next Test series. "3 centuries in 3 matches. Cheteshwar Pujara is piling on the runs for Sussex in the County Championship - making it real tough for India to not select him for the next test," he wrote.

Notably, Cheteshwar Pujara was left out of India's Test series against Sri Lanka, which concluded in March. The Test specialist was in a poor form prior to the series. He went 38 innings without a hundred before being dropped. His last century for India came against Australia in January 2019.
