The 15th season of the Indian T20 League is likely to be played at the six venues across Maharashtra and Ahmedabad, as per a report in Sportstar. The venues of the tournament have been limited due to the COVID19 scare, which postponed the last season midway. Last year, the Board For Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) decided to stage the cash-rich league in India after successfully hosting England earlier. However, COVID-19 cases in different teams in the middle of the tournament meant that the tournament was postponed and later shifted to the United Arab Emirates.
This year, to avoid such a scenario, the games will be played in six venues of Maharashtra, including Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, D.Y. Patil Stadium, Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Jio Stadium, and Ahmedabad. The Jio Stadium hasn't hosted any international games but has all the facilities to host an ITL game. The four aforementioned stadium have hosted ITL as well as international matches. The league matches are likely to be played in Maharashtra while playoffs, including the final will be played in Ahmedabad, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Meanwhile, the dates for the Indian T20 League are not announced but the tournament is likely to start in the second week of March. Recently, the mega auction for the 15th season was held in Bengaluru where teams finalized their squad. As per the report, the schedule of the tournament will be released by the end of this month.
