Rishabh Pant has played the most prominent role in India reaching this stage: Saba Karim

Saba Karim believes that Rishabh Pant has played the most prominent role in helping the team reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship. The Men in Blue have secured the place in ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand. The Indian cricket team had put together a dominant show throughout the inaugural season of the WTC. There have been several contributing factors to India's success in the purest format of the game. However, the contribution of young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been immense in the last two series. 

The youngster has played several match-winning, and match-saving knocks against Australia and England. His great innings have bolstered his reputation in the world of cricket. The former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim also feels Pant will have a huge role to play when team India takes on New Zealand in the WTC final. 

Rishabh Pant scored his maiden Test hundred in England

Rishabh amassed 274 runs at an average of 68.50 in five innings for the team against Australia. He also continued his excellent form against England, where he scored 270 runs at an average of 54.00. The wicket-keeper batsman was the second-highest run-getter for India in the series. Saba Karim believes that Pant's capability with the bat allows captain Kohli to field five frontline bowlers in the team. The Indian cricket team might have struggled in England, but the players also have a remarkable record in the country. The young wicket-keeper batsman had scored his maiden century in the format during the 2018 tour. Thus, Pant would be hoping of producing more such performances in the upcoming series.

Talking about India's performance in the Tests, the team has unarguably been the most dominant Test team over the last 4-5 years. India is presently leading the table after gaining one rating point for an aggregate of 121. Team India has accumulated 2914 points from 24 matches. Virat Kohli-led team India is followed by their WTC final opponents, New Zealand. The Kiwis have an aggregate of 120. New Zealand has amassed 2166 points from 18 Test matches and gained two rating points. Team India had won 2-1 against Australia and 3-1 win over England earlier this year. On the other hand, New Zealand won a 2-0 series over the West Indies and Pakistan. Thus, these victories have helped both sides to keep ahead of the other teams.
