Former wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel believes that Rishabh Pant will be the X-factor for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season. The youngster has been in great form in international cricket. Pant performed brilliantly well in the four-match Test series against Australia and helped his team win the series by 2-1. He carried his exceptional form against England and ended up as the third-highest run-getter after Joe Root and Rohit Sharma.
The entire cricket fraternity praised the 23-year-old for his growth both as a wicket-keeper and as a batsman. His exceptional form in the purest format saw Rishabh Pant making a comeback in India's squad for the ODI and T20I side. While the youngster was at his best in the T20Is, he made heads turn with his power-hitting in the limited over format.
Rishabh can be better than MS Dhoni if he plays his natural game: Parthiv Patel
Rishabh Pant featured in just two ODIs and ended up scoring 155 runs at an average of 77.50. This also included two sublime knocks off 77 and 78 runs. Seeing the way Pant has performed for the team, former batsman Parthiv Patel believes that he will prove to be an x-factor for Delhi Capitals. He further stated that Pant could help the team to win their maiden title.
The former cricketer also believes that Rishabh can be better than MS Dhoni if he plays his natural game. This time, the youngster will be responsible for leading his franchise as their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury. Shreyas missed the last two ODIs against England post the injury and is likely to undergo surgery on April 8.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has so far had an exceptional IPL career as a batsman for the Delhi based franchise. In 68 IPL games, he has amassed 2079 at an average of 35.2 and a phenomenal strike rate of 152. Now it's time for a new period in Pant's career as he is all set to become one of the youngest IPL skippers of all time. It remains to be seen if wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant can take his young team to their first-ever IPL trophy. The Delhi Capitals will commence their IPL 2021 campaign against MS Dhoni's team on April 10 in Mumbai.
