Rishabh Pant

Tarak Sinha was Rishabh Pant’s childhood coach. He recently told an interesting episode about Pant. His narration aimed to highlight the young batman’s values in life. Sinha said that Rishabh Pant once drove an hour to apologize to him at 3:30 AM. Pant did that because he could not see his coach upset.

Tarak Sinha played an important role to ensure Rishab Pant’s rise in International Cricket. He is the head coach of club Sonnet in Delhi where Pant had spent most of his formative years. Thereby, he could keep a close eye on Pant’s rise to prominence as a player.

During the period he coached Pant, it involved some harsh talks, to make Pant become his best self. It was during one such net session in Sonnet when Sinha got upset with him. The incident kept Pant up all night and he finally drove an hour to apologize to his coach. Sinha was confused by the urgency of the situation. Rishabh Pant then explained to him that he could not tolerate seeing him upset. So he wanted to apologize. It was a touching yet disturbing incident for Sinha.

Rishabh Pant had played more than 70 international games for India

He has scored a little below 2400 runs across all formats. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has already helped India win some crucial matches. He played an important role in ensuring India’s win against Australia in 2020 and England in 2021.

Pants' success has led to his comparison with the legendary former captain of the Indian team MS Dhoni. He also proved himself to be a capable captain when he led Delhi Capitals to the top in IPL.

However, Sinha opined that it is too early to have this discussion. Rishabh Pant has to mature as a player at first. Even iconic players like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni had to travel a long road before they became the captain. Sinha further added that Pant did a good job as the captain of Delhi Capitals and he is not afraid of additional responsibilities. But he has not yet grown enough as a player to lead the Indian team.

Rishabh Pant is now in Mumbai quarantining with his fellow teammates. He is part of the Indian Squad that would fly to England for the WTC final. The team would then face England in a five-match test series as well.
