India’s campaign in the 20-20 World Cup concluded with a win over Namibia. The tournament was a rigid ride for the Men in Blue as they were always playing the catching game after losing to Pakistan in the first match of the Super 12 stage. If the fans thought it was a one-off slip-up, then they were in for a rude shock as the team slipped yet again and lost to New Zealand. Later, India went on to win three matches on the bounce but the damage was already done.
Amidst the defeats, Indian players still managed to hold their composure well. First, Virat Kohli by lauded by all for handling the defeat against Pakistan gracefully and hugging Mohammad Rizwan after the match and later, the team was appreciated for visiting the Scotland dressing room after drubbing them by eight wickets.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant also managed to win hearts with his sweet gesture. The incident occurred during Namibia’s innings, when batter Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton was desperate to get to the striker’s end. Sensing there might be a run-out chance, the wicketkeeper batter came forward to collect the ball but accidentally stepped on the bat of the Namibian batter.
This is was a small gesture but showed how much Pant value the game which has given him fame, respect, and adulation.
