Former Indian cricketer and member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, Roger Binny, is likely to be the next President of the Indian Cricket Board, replacing Sourav Ganguly. BJP MLA Ashish Shelar is likely to be the Treasurer, replacing Arun Dhumal as per sources in the Indian Cricket Board. On the other hand, Jay Shah will retain his position as the Secretary.

At an Indian Cricket Board meeting held at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday, all office bearers from different parts of the country from various associations filed nominations for different positions on the board.

The discussions were held in the internal Indian Cricket Board meeting in the lead-up to the elections, scheduled for October 18. Senior Indian Cricket Board administrator Rajeev Shukla will remain the Vice-President of the board, while Ashish Sellar is likely to take over as the new treasurer replacing Arun Dhumal.

Binny has previously served as a member of the Indian Cricket Board's selection committee. Under his tenure, the selection of his son Stuart Binny in the 2015 World Cup squad raised many eyebrows. He is currently president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

The nominations can be filed on October 11 and 12. The scrutiny of the nominations will take place on October 13, and the candidates can withdraw their nominations latest by October 14.

The 67-year-old has played 27 Tests for India, picking up 47 wickets at an average of 32.63. He also represented the country in 72 ODIs from 1980-87, scalping 77 wickets at an average of 29.35. His biggest hour of glory, of course, was the 1983 World Cup, when he took 18 wickets in 8 games at an average of 18.66 to emerge as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. He played a vital role in India's stunning triumph.

The right-arm seamer was also handy with the bat during his playing days scoring five half-centuries in Tests and one in ODIs.

Sourav Ganguly, the current Indian Cricket Board President, is tipped to be India's representative for the 16-member Apex Cricket Council Board Chairman's post, elections for which are slated to be held this November.
