The Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. It was awful for not only Suryakumar Yadav but all his fans after getting snubbed from the set-up once again.
BCCI declared the 32-member squad for the India tour of Australia followed by a 4-match Border Gavaskar Trophy. His wait continues despite putting in strong performances in both the domestic circuit and for Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest run-getter at the number 3 batting position in IPL 2020.
He has always been a consistent performer for the Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar proved why he deserved a spot in India's squad for the Australia tour by smacking 79* off 43 at Abu Dhabi.
While chasing a combative total of 164, Yadav’s batting alone guided Mumbai Indians to a five-wicket victory. The 30-year-old aggregated 480 runs in 15 innings at an average of 40. As the Mumbaikar didn’t get a chance in the squad even after his remarkable performance in the season, Yadav was downhearted.
The Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma disclosed how Suryakumar handled the disappointment. He stated that Suryakumar Yadav’s response to the snub made him more confident. Rohit also added that the Yadav is heading in the right direction and will soon get his maiden Indian call.
Don’t worry I will get over it: Suryakumar Yadav
In an interview with Times of India, Rohit Sharma highlighted that as the Indian squad was announced, everyone was sitting in the team room and he could feel that Suryakumar Yadav was very disappointed. However, instead of comforting him about the same, Rohit decided to give him the space to formulate himself.
The MI captain further reckoned that Yadav himself came to him and assured him that he will get over this phase and will continue winning matches for Mumbai Indians.
The Mumbai Indians lifted their 5th title in IPL 2020 after defeating Delhi Capitals. Suryakumar has to wait until India's series against England to earn his maiden international call-up.
Speaking of Rohit Sharma, he is in the process to achieve full fitness before joining the Indian team in Australia. The highly-anticipated 4-match Test series against Australia is to commence from December 17.
