Former cricketer Ramiz Raja praised Rohit Sharma and stated that he's capable to score a double hundred in the WTC final if he gets settled. However, there are several assumptions regarding India’s opening pair in the final of the maiden season of the World Test Championship. The Indian team will play against New Zealand in the WTC final from June 18 to June 22 at Southampton. Considering the middle-over of the team is almost confirmed, the Indian team management might be concerned about the opening pair.

For now, it is known that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are likely to open for the team in the finals. The duo has been opening for India in the Test format since the four-match Test series against Australia.

India will leave no stone unturned to win the final clash: Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja accepted that the Indian team might face some challenges early in the innings. However, he believes that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will need to be very careful only for the first hour. Once they get to know the conditions, then the duo will need to play their natural game.

Talking about team India’s chances in the forthcoming high-voltage showdown, the former cricketer believes India is a more talented side than New Zealand. This is because the Indians have a better, strong game plan which is backed by their instincts. Ramiz Raja also highlighted that the Indian cricket team has grown from strength to strength over the last decade. The team has also improved in a couple of areas they lacked in the past. While NZ will be better acclimatized to the English conditions, the 58-year-old feels team India is the more accomplished side. The Men in Blue will leave no stone unturned to win the final clash.
