Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma has finally tested negative for Covid-19 after missing the fifth Test match. He has now begun practice for the upcoming white-ball series of the tour of England. The BCCI released a video of the Indian skipper practising some of his famous strokes against R Ashwin. According to reports, Sharma had a nearly 45-minute batting practise session as well as some fielding drills.

However, there is some uncertainty about his fitness to play a 4-hour, high-intensity T20I match. According to reports, a decision on his availability for the first T20I encounter is yet to be made. He will also be subjected to necessary cardiovascular tests.

The tests will determine Rohit Sharma's fitness and participation in the first T20 against England on July 7 in Southampton. According to a BCCI official, head coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit himself will decide on his availability.

"See he had suffered from a bout of COVID. He needs time to recover. He has started training but will he play 1st match or not, it depends on his fitness. Coach and Rohit himself will take a call on the same. We are hopeful he should be ready," said the source, as quoted by Sports Tiger.
