Cricket is a dangerous sport which is evident from the amount of protective gear the batters wear while facing a bowler. The crowd, on most occasions, seems to be away from the fierce battle between bat and ball as they watch their favourite stars collide against each other.
But sometimes, the crowd too can face the wrath of the cricket ball as the batsmen hit monstrous sixes which travel at tremendous speed in the air towards the crowd in the stands.
The stands at the stadium can be a dangerous place to be when a destructive batsman is going bonkers and smashing soaring sixes one after the other. There have been many instances of fans getting injured in the crowd as they were hit by the speeding ball coming towards them.
A similar incident happened in the first ODI between India and England as one of the sixes from Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s bat hit a young six-year-old girl in the crowd.

The incident took place during the fifth over of the Indian innings when Rohit Sharma smashed David Willey for a gigantic six over the long-leg region. The girl failed to evade the ball as she got hit in the stands. The commentators, Michael Atherton and Ravi Shastri, were quick to bring to the attention of the public about a possible injury in the stands right after the ball was hit there.
Later, the official Twitter handle of the Barmy Army also shared an update on the girl. The physiotherapists of the England Cricket Team, thereafter, rushed to check on the well-being of the girl. However, it was learned that the girl didn’t suffer any major injury.
After the match ended, the star batter, in a heartfelt gesture, visited the girl in the crowd and gifted her a Teddy bear.

Coming back to the match, India steam-rolled England as they chased down the meagre total set by the English batsmen of 110 in 18.4 overs. In the first innings, England were blown away by Indian bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, who registered his best ever figures in ODI cricket of 6/19.
