India pacer Mohammed Shami faced an uncomfortable situation ahead of the fourth BGT Test. Apparently, some fans were heard chanting 'Jai Shree Ram' when he and some other players were on the boundary line. During the game, not much was said about the incident over the course of five days. However, after the game ended in a tame draw, India skipper Rohit Sharma spoke on the issue.

He said that he was unaware of the incident. Apparently, the Indian Cricket Board guidelines don't allow its players to engage with the trolls. Notably, when Shami faced trolling after India's loss in the 20-20 World Cup 2021, former India skipper Virat Kohli had taken on the trolls. Meanwhile, an official has confirmed the board's guidelines on social media trolling.

“I am absolutely unaware of Jai Shri Ram chants for Shami. I just heard it for the first time. I don’t know what has happened there,” Rohit was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference by InsideSport.

“We don’t engage with trolls, and engaging them would only encourage them. Platforms have already taken down many such comments,” one official said.

Gujarat Cricket Association set to take action against the perpetrators

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Cricket Association which hosted the Test match is willing to take the action against the trolls. Meanwhile, India retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy and won the series 2-1. India thus became the first team to win four consecutive Border Gavaskar Trophy. Skipper Rohit Sharma was happy with the team’s performance and said it was collective effort by everyone.

“It was fantastic. Right from the word go. It was exciting, all the Test matches there was something in it for everyone to watch. We understand the importance of the series and definitely understand the importance of the opposition. After playing good cricket for 40-odd days, we stand here with a result we are quite happy with,” Rohit said.
