Current IPL defending champions Mumbai Indians have climbed to the top spot on the IPL 2020 points table after their win over the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. Playing 6 matches they have won 4 and lost 2. After registering their 4th win on Tuesday, Rohit Sharma was in full of praise for his team. Sharma praised them for the comprehensive team performance as Mumbai Indians are now in the lead.

Mumbai Indians elected to bat first after winning the toss at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Their decision demonstrated to be categorically perfect as the MI batsmen looked to run the game and not the opponent. As a result, MI piled up a decently high score of 193 after losing 4 wickets. When RR went down to the crease to chase the score, they simply looked out of place, though Jos Buttler attempted hard to score runs.

Rohit Sharma lauds his team after the win over Rajasthan Royals

“We strive to be out there and play well. We have a lot of quality and it’s about getting the job done. They all have a lot of confidence. They’re all talented and they can take the game away on their day and it’s all falling into place. The conditions are helpful here for the quick bowlers. It was nipping around to start with and it’s good to have bowlers who can exploit the conditions.”

“We also worked a lot on our fielding, because it’s one of the controllable in the game and we made it a point to do that well. A good Surya innings was coming, I spoke to him before the game, and his shot selection was perfect today. We wanted him to bat till the end because he can innovate rather well.”

Rohit Sharma added.

With their last win against RR, the team MI has once again climbed up to the top spot and proved them to be one of the best IPL teams in the recent T20 league era. MI has moved Delhi Capitals down to the second spot of the table. Currently, both Mumbai and Delhi are sharing the same 8 points in the table. However, MI has a better Net Run Rate than Delhi and hence they are at the top. On October 11, these top two teams will clash with each other.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals has lost three games in a row after winning their first two games at the start of the tournament. They have been losing since they have stepped out of Sharjah. The woes continue to rise for RR as they are awaiting the arrival of Ben Stokes.
