Dinesh Karthik has surprised everyone with his heroic comeback to the Indian team. The veteran cricketer had been out of the national side for almost two years, and not many thought that he would be able to make a comeback. However, he has fought his way up after a stellar run in the Indian T20 League 2022.
The wicket-keeper had last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Since then, he has improved his game and performed admirably for the Bangalore team in the 15th season of the cash-rich league. He has now been given an opportunity to play for India in the five-match T20I series against South Africa. The 37-year-old has made the most out of this chance and impressed everyone.
After his heroics in Rajkot, an old chat between Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik has resurfaced. Dinesh Karthik posted an image on Instagram almost a year ago when he was working as a commentator for Sky Sports. "Just me being me," he wrote in the caption. To which Sharma commented, "You still have some cricket left. FYI!" Karthik responded saying, "Don’t ever doubt that sham."

As for the match, Dinesh Karthik played a great knock at Rajkot in the fourth T20I of the series. He scored 55 runs in just 27 balls when most of the other batters had failed to score any runs. He only got the support from Hardik Pandya, who scored 46 runs in the match. The two helped India reach a total of 169 runs in the first innings.
The Proteas' batting lineup utterly crumbled in the chase, as they were unable to form any meaningful partnerships. They were eventually all-out for 87 runs, handing India an 82-run victory. This was South Africa's lowest score in a T20I game.
In the meantime, the series is levelled at 2-2. The decider match will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on the 19th of June.
