The Indian T20 league 2022 hasn't really been kind to Mumbai. They have got to their worst start in the history of the league as the Rohit Sharma-led side have now lost their first six games of this edition. It is going to take a miracle for the five-time champions to make it to the playoffs this time around.
Several experts and pundits have gone on to criticize their skipper Rohit Sharma. Despite all his achievements as Mumbai's captain, the "Hitman" has come under the scanner for his leadership. His form with the bat hasn't been great either. He is yet to score a fifty in the 2022 edition. The "Hitman" was only able to score 6 off 7 balls during Mumbai's 18-run loss to Lucknow
Thus, Sharma took full responsibility for his side's failures. After the completion of the game, he stated that he backs himself to go and deliver. The opener also said that they will try to make a comeback again. It is to be noted that the Mumbai-based franchise have lost their initial games in the past and yet, have gone on to win titles.
"If I know what's going wrong, I'd correct it but it's not coming off. I'm trying to prepare myself in the way I prepare for every game, that is no different. It's not coming off. I take the full responsibility of not putting the team in the situation of what they expect from me. I back myself to go out there and enjoy the game and doing what I have been doing all these years," said Rohit Sharma.
In the meanwhile, he also appreciated KL Rahul for his century. Sharma stated that they wanted someone from their top four to bat as long as possible. He also said that they are still trying to find their ideal combination. Mumbai's next game is scheduled to take place on April 21 against Chennai.
"We lost 6 games now, we are trying to understand what our right combination is, but it all depends on the opposition that we play. When you lose games it is very easy to point out that changes are being made but we try and go with our best eleven. I think KL batted brilliantly that is something missing from our team, wanted someone in our top four to bat as long as possible which is not happening, don't want to look too much into it. We haven't won a game yet but we need to keep our heads high," he added.
