India skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly recovered from the back spasm that he sustained during the third T20I against the West Indies. The incident happened during the visitors' innings when they were chasing 165 runs to win. Sharma left the field and didn't come back to bat. The team went on to win the game by seven wickets. After the game, the 35-year-old said that the injury isn't too serious and might play the next game.
“It’s okay at the moment. We’ve got a few days till the next game, hopefully it should be okay (his injury),” he had said.
The fourth T20I between the two teams will be played on August 6 in Florida. Even though there is no official update on Mumbaikar's fitness, Cricbuzz has reported that he will be available for the rest of the games of the series this weekend.
“Rohit will be available for the last two games on Saturday and Sunday”, a report from Cricbuzz read.
The team would need him to be available with the series hanging at 2-1. If he isn't available for Saturday's game, the likes of Hardik Pandya or Rishabh Pant might lead the side. The team management would be cautious of his fitness as Asia Cup will be played later this month. Notably, he would be skipping the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the players' visas, which were delayed, have been cleared and both teams will head to the US. Notably, some of the players would have flown to Miami from St. Kitts, where the teams were playing recently. On the other hand, the Cricket Windies (CWI) were looking to stage the rest of the games in Trinidad if the players didn't get the clearance on time.
Now, thanks to the Guyana government, the players have gotten their visas to play the rest of the games in the US. The players will head to the southern parts of the US on August 4.
