Rajasthan Royals had to face a defeat in a thrilling match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday, April 5. However, the loss wasn't the only blow that they had to suffer, as during this match, Rajasthan's star player Jose Butler was injured while taking a catch during fielding. Due to this, it is now said that Butler won't be available for a week.

The explosive opener was injured while taking the catch of Punjab's batter Shah Rukh Khan. A finger of his left hand got injured. The injury was so brutal that several stitches had to be put on his finger. Due to this injury, Butler did not even come to open the batting against Punjab Kings. R Ashwin opened Rajasthan's innings in place of Butler.

According to RR's captain Sanju Samson, Buttler was not fully fit. For this reason, he was not sent to open the innings so that the doctors would get some more time for his treatment.  “Jos was not fit. He was getting stitches for his finger after the catch," skipper Sanju Samson said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Brilliant batting performance by Punjab Kings

Talking about RR's match against PBKS, batting first the Shikhar Dhawan-led side put up a fighting total of 192 runs in the first innings with the help of brilliant innings from openers Prabhsimran Singh (60 off 34) and Shikhar Dhawan (86 of 56). Jason Holder was the best bowler for RR as he picked up 2 wickets and conceded only 29 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing the target, RR had a horrible start as they lost their first three wickets on the score of just 57 runs.  There could be questions about Ashwin's promotion and the non-boundary overs from 8 to 11 and of course, the struggles of Devdutt Padikkal in the top order. However,  the impact player, Dhruv Jurel, not only proved his worth in his first-ever outing of the IPL but also displayed his range and fierce attitude during his 15-ball 32, but unfortunately he couldn't take his team to victory.
