Ross Taylor has been ruled out of the first ODI match against Bangladesh due to a small tear in his left hamstring. The first ODI match between New Zealand and Bangladesh is going to take place this Saturday, March 20. The match will be held at the University Oval in Dunedin.

Ross Taylor picked up the injury during the Plunket Shield game between Central Stags and Wellington Firebirds on Sunday. The Kiwi player is likely to stay with the squad.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead stated that it is unfortunate for the senior player to get injured on the eve of the series. However, Stead is confident that with some rest and rehabilitation, Taylor will be available for the second game of the series.

All-rounder Mark Chapman has been brought in the squad as a replacement for Ross Taylor. The 26-year-old featured in the T20Is against Australia but failed to perform. The upcoming series against Bangladesh will be an excellent opportunity for the southpaw to leave an impression.
