Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings locked horns in the 21st match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. Both teams played this match at the AB Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The visitors’ stand-in skipper Sam Curran won the toss and decided to bowl first at the bowling-friendly turf of Ekana Stadium.
Batting first, the hosts managed to post 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Whereas Punjab Kings managed to cross the line with three balls to spare and won the match by a very close margin of eight wickets.

Speaking of the entire action of the match, Lucknow Super Kings managed to post a total of 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the first 20 overs of the game. Skipper and opener, KL Rahul played a decent knock of 74 runs off 56 balls with eight boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him, it was only Kyle Mayers who crossed the individual mark of 20+ runs and played a knock of 29 runs with a boundary and three sixes.
Kings’ stand-in skipper Sam Curran scalped three wickets in his quota of four overs; other than him, Kagiso Rabada also claimed two wickets alongside one wicket each by Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, and Sikandar Raza.
While chasing the target, Punjab Kings faced quite a bit of difficulty in the beginning but the star all-rounder Sikander Raza took the charge for the visitors; he played a match-defining knock of 57 runs off 41 balls with four boundaries and three sixes to take Kings back into the game. Other than him, Matthew Short and M Shahrukh Khan also scored 34 and 23 runs respectively.
Eventually, Sam Curran’s guys won the match by a close margin of two wickets by chasing the target in 19.3 overs; they scored 161 runs for the loss of eight wickets to register a third win in their fifth match of the tournament.
