In a shocking development, India skipper Virat Kohli is not playing the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg. The stand-in skipper KL Rahul revealed that Virat Kohli missed out as he has an upper back spasm. Rahul, however, said that there is nothing to be concerned about and Virat will be fully fit before the third game. Meanwhile, India made one change in the team and brought in Hanuma Vihari in place of Virat Kohli. Jasprit Bumrah is serving as Rahul's deputy in the match. Rahul won the toss and opted to bat.
"Unfortunately Virat has had an upper back spasm, the physios are working on him and hopefully he'll recover for the next Test. It is every Indian player's dream to captain his country. Really honoured and looking forward to this challenge. We have had a few good wins here and hopefully we'll look to continue that. Hanuma Vihari comes in place of Virat," said Rahul at the toss.
South Africa, on the other hand, made two changes and brought in Kyle Verreynne and Duanne Olivier in place of Quinton de Kock and Wiaan Mulder respectively. De Kock had announced his retirement from Test cricket following a defeat in the first Test.
Meanwhile, India is nearing a historic series win in South Africa. They are 1-0 up in the series and a win in Johannesburg will seal the deal for them. India have a terrific record at Wanderers and have won two and drew three games. They have never lost a game at the venue. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli too has a staggering record in Johannesburg. The skipper has two fifties and a hundred in four innings he has played at the venue. His services will certainly be missed in the match.
