Former South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir took a great catch during the Eliminator game between Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals in SA20 2024. In the game, the home team, Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. With the bat, the 2023 semifinalists had a great start with Jason Roy and Jos Buttler scoring 26 runs in 2.3 overs.

The first one to go was the England white-ball captain, Jos Buttler as he was caught behind by Donovan Ferreira in the third over off Sam Cook. In the same, Mitchell Van Burren mistimed a pull shot and was caught by Tahir from fine leg, who was inside the circle. The former South Africa player ran towards the boundary to record one of the greatest catches in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Pink Brigade couldn't recover from the early wickets. Skipper David Miller (47) tried his best but lacked support from the other end. For the Yellow Brigade, Nandre Bruger took three wickets, Sam Cook ended up getting four wickets, Tahir took two and Moeen Ali took one. In reply, the Faf du Plessis-led side won the game by nine wickets.

Getting the nod and getting wickets was great: Player of the Match, Sam Cook

"(Worth the wait to play today) Getting the nod and getting wickets was great. Best is to be able to get a chance to go again tomorrow. Coming from English conditions, trying to get the ball to swing is how I've grown. Had a bit of time to adjust and get used to the lengths here. (Getting Buttler out) Familiar players in unfamiliar surroundings. I had never bowled to Jos before, pleased with that one. We killed the game off in the powerplay. Nandre was brilliant, think he deserved few more wickets. (South African surfaces) I think it is nice to have a bit of carry to the keeper, change from home conditions."
