Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is reported to be part of the upcoming Road Safety World Series which will be played next month. Early this year, he disassociated from the tournament as he didn't receive his tournament fees on time for the 2020-21 edition. However, a few months after this, he reportedly decided to play in the tournament. However, it will be interesting to see whether he participates as a player or a mentor.
Sachin was part of the tournament-winning team last year which beat Sri Lanka in the final. It is important to note that nothing can be said with absolute surety. SportsTiger has reported that the 2011 World Cup winner might be part of the tournament which is proposed to start on September 10.
The proposed dates and the matches are:
September 10-India Vs South Africa
September 11- England Vs West Indies and Sri Lanka Vs Australia
September 12- New Zealand Vs South Africa
September 13- England Vs Sri Lanka,
September 14- India Vs West Indies
September 15-Bangladesh Vs New Zealand.
The matches will are proposed to be played in Kanpur.
New Zealand Legends to participate for the first time
Ahead of the second season of the tournament, former cricketers from New Zealand will also participate in the tournament and entertain the fans. Apart from teams such as defending champion India, last year's finalists Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, and the West Indies, the Kiwis will also play in the tournament as 'New Zealand Legends'. It will be interesting to see when every report related to the tournament becomes official.
Meanwhile, talking about the tournament, it was started in 2020 to create awareness among people about road safety. In that year, COVID19 led the tournament to be postponed till a further date. It was completed early last year with India beating Sri Lanka to become the inaugural champions. It will be interesting to see whether the Indian Legends can defend their title this year whenever the tournament goes ahead.
