India takes an unassailable lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
For the second consecutive time in the series, India thrashed Australia within three days of a game. In the first game played in Nagpur, the home team won by an inning and 132 runs. In the recently-concluded second game, the Pat Cummins-led side won the toss and elected to bat first.
They amassed 263 runs by riding on half-centuries from Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb and a useful contribution from the skipper. In reply, India scored a run less than their opponents, thanks to Kohli's 44, a half-century from Axar Patel, and useful innings from Ravichandran Ashwin. After leading the game by a run, the Aussies faltered on Day Three and were bowled out for 113 runs. Chasing 115 runs to win, India won the game by six wickets.
