Sandeep Lamichhane accused of rape by a minor, FIR lodged

Nepal star legs-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been accused of raping a minor. The complainant claims that she suffered the tragedy on August 21 last month. It was a day before Sandeep left for Kenya for the white-ball series. The minor has claimed that she had gone to Nagarkot with Lamichhane on August 17 after being introduced to him through her friend.

Notably, the complaint was filed on the same day when famous Nepal actor Paul Shah was convicted of child abuse. He has been jailed for two and a half years. Talking about the case filed on the leggie, AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk, who is posted at Kathmandu Valley Police Office has confirmed that a case has been filed.

“A rape complaint has been filed against Sandeep Lamichhane. It’s a minor’s complaint, I will give further details regarding this tomorrow,” Dhanuk told Setopati on Tuesday night. “The victim’s health check-up has also been performed this evening.”

The girl is currently under police protection and has undergone a health check-up. Talking about Sandeep, he has left the team after the five-match T20I series against Kenya. Rohit Kumar Paudel then led the Nepali team in the one-dayers in his absence. Currently, he is playing for two-time winners of the Caribbean Premier League, Jamaica Tallahwahs. The 22-year-old will now be probed when he lands in Nepal.
