Sanju Samson needs to learn from MS Dhoni: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra stated that he wants Sanju Samson to learn a carefree approach from former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. The wicket-keeper batsman has been included in India’s second-string squad that will tour Sri Lanka in July. India is going to play a limited-overs bilateral series next month against the Island nation.

The Kerala batsman is back into the team after getting dropped for the England series at home. Thus, this can be an excellent chance for Samson to fix his place in the Indian cricket team. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are the two wicketkeeper-batsmen for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

Meanwhile, former Indian opening batsman Aakash Chopra has opined that if Sanju Samson gets an opportunity in Sri Lanka, then he must play according to the situation. Aakash Chopra also said that Samson should adopt a carefree approach instead of being careless on the field. The former cricketer stated that Sanju’s captaincy stint at the Rajasthan Royals is going to help him during the Sri Lanka tour. Earlier, Sanju Samson has lost many chances in International matches by playing careless shots and losing wickets.

On Thursday, the All-India Senior Selection Committee selected the squad for the 3-match ODI series and as many T20I series. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team in the absence of Virat Kohli in the upcoming limited-over series against Sri Lanka. The series is going to take place in July. The series will be played in the absence of senior players, who are currently in England preparing for the WTC final against New Zealand. Team India will play three ODIs, starting from July 13. After the conclusion of the ODI series, the action will shift to the game’s shortest format, beginning on July 21. The second and third T20I games will take place on July 23 and July 25, respectively.
